The NDI's Veritechs & Mecha

New NDI Veritechs and Mecha

The VERITECH (Variable Engineering and Robotic Integration Technology) has been the standard from which all atmospheric and transatmospheric strike craft have been judged since the development of the VF-25 Dark Angel superiority fighter in the early 21st century. Veritechs are not only prized for their superb combat ability, but their sheer versatility. The transformable nature of the mecha makes it ideal for a wide variety of missions, from air-to-air combat, air-to-ground fire support to hand-to-hand mecha combat.

As Humanity has progressed dramatically on a technological scale, the vast majority of its Veritech mecha have been fitted with advanced autonomous AI computer systems that can perform on par with veteran-level VF pilots. Replacing the original NDI Veritech mecha, the VF-25 Dark Angel and VF-26 Starblade, the brand-new XF series mecha rolled off the production lines in 2065 as the pinnacle of Confederate strike craft technology.

The first of the XF series was the XF-14 Tempest. The XF-14 was a versatile fighter design that blended the superior dogfighting skills of the VF-25 with the high-speeds of the VF-26 into one high-powered Veritech mecha. Designed specifically for use on the Sierra and Whirlwind class, the XF-14 remained largely unproven in serious combat until the Chaos and Hive Wars of 2070 where the XF-14 met and exceeded all expectations against a myriad of exotic foes across the system of Ayenee. This war also saw the debut of the premier naval strike mecha of the NDI, the fearsome XB-29 Pulsar.

Through the military build up in the 2070s, new mecha designs such as the XF-15 Maverick and the XF-18 Shadowstriker came into the military arsenal of the Nerimian Defense Initiative to give the NDI a well-rounded complement of mecha to destroy its potential adversaries.
