BACKGROUND
The state of perpetual
cold war between the mighty forces of the Draconian Alliance and its rival
Jaaq'tah Alliance has pushed the state of military technology above and beyond
limits that even the ancient Draconians could have ever imagined that their
creations could have ever developed. Ships such as the Yamazaki battlecruiser and the awesome Orion battleships have been the result
of rediscovered technology left behind on old Draconian Empire outposts. Today,
as the forces of the Draconian Alliance and the Jaaq'tah clash in a battle that
makes the entire galaxy tremble, the scientists of the Draconian Alliance
remain ever-vigilant, releasing the most advanced warship to ever come off the
production line: The Alpha-Hotel Class Battleship.
The Alpha-Hotel class was
a joint venture between all races of the Draconian League to develop a
high-powered warship that could perform multiple mission profiles very easily.
First and foremost, the Alpha-Hotel battleship was never intended as a command
vessel like other ships of its classification. The Alpha-Hotel's primary
mission profile was designed for high-speed, deep space assaults against enemy
fleets, installations, and even planets. Secondly, the Alpha-Hotel was designed
to be able to penetrate deep into enemy controlled territory undetected and is
as such equipped with some of the most advanced array of stealth systems ever
placed on a ship of war. Finally, the Alpha-Hotel was designed to be a
'self-escorting' vessel, meaning that if necessary it could handle every aspect
of its defense without the aid of smaller frigates or destroyers providing
long-range sensor and point-defenses. The ability to operate autonomously
without a escort squadron was the most attractive feature of the Alpha-Hotel
class despite the fact that Alpha-Hotel ships are rarely deployed without
escort.
The Alpha-Hotel is heavily
armored with Xintium Type B armor, a lightweight variant of Xintium armor that
provides proportionally more protection per square centimeter than standard Xintium
alloy. It is equipped with a dual Quantum Detonator transmitter and the most
advanced arsenal of beam weapon systems Phoenix Arms and Argus Millitech have
to offer. The Alpha-Hotel is a weapons platform that has been nearly six years
in the making and is the first step in a long-awaited unification of all
Draconian League military forces. Produced exclusively in the Pozarid shipyards
in Kholdan, an undisclosed number of Alpha-Hotel battleships have been produced
and undergone shakedown trials.

WEAPON SYSTEMS:
- QUANTUM DETONATOR (2): The most powerful naval weapon
in the known universe. The Quantum Detonator is a by-product of hyperspace
tap technology, capable of generating a powerful pulse that releases the
inherent energy potentials of its target, which usually is the zero-point
energy present everywhere around us. By releasing the latent energy
potentials, the resultant energy explosion is incredibly intense in that
it effectively annihilates everything in its area of effect, which is a
cubic area up to roughly one astronomical unit (93,000,000 miles) in
diameter. The Alpha-Hotel battleships have two quantum detonator emitters
that allow the ship to create two simultaneous detonations.
- Primary Purpose: Anti-Warship/Anti-Planet
- Range: Indefinite range. Range is
determined by the range of the ship's sensors.
- Damage: Total destruction in its
area of effect.
- Rate of Fire: Varies. Under optimal
conditions, the quantum detonator can transmit once every three and a
half minutes.

- PHOENIX/ARGUS OTC-01 BEAM CANNONS (110): The latest in advanced
weapons system design, Phoenix Corporation and Argus Millitech have teamed
up to produce the OTC series beam cannon, a multi-function weapons system
that can generate multiple types of beams to suit the military situation
at hand. Each weapon is concealed inside of the hull when inactive and are
only revealed when the ship enters a combat situation. Each weapon can
fire on a 60 degree axis.
Hard Beam: The
Hard Beam is an advanced weapons system that uses the peculiar
characteristics of subspace fields to generate a destructive beam of
energy that is exceptionally adept at penetrating disabling enemy
shielding systems of all types and subsequently damaging electronic
equipment. The end result is a weapon that deals no real structural damage
to a ship, but can virtually render a ship helpless by blasting holes in
shielding and destroying various subsystems.

Penetrates ALL known forms of shielding (ray, particle, distortion,
transplanar, etc.)

Type 25 Energy Wave Projection
Cannon: The Energy Wave Projection Cannon is the
premier anti-warship weapon of the Nerimian Defense Initiative and Hushain
Empires. Based loosely off hyperspace tap technology, the weapon is
capable of generating incredible amounts of destructive energy and
releasing it as a destructive blast that has been known to completely
vaporize enemy vessels. The low-end of the weapon's power is measured in
the mid-gigaton ranges (50-75 gigatons of destructive power) and it's
high-end output generates in excess of 1,000 gigatons at peak levels.
Primary Purpose: Anti-Warship
Secondary Purpose:
Orbital Bombardment
Damage: Serious
damage potential against all varieties of warships. Damage can be reduced
due to shielding technologies.
Range: 1 AU+
Rate of Fire: One
pulse every second.
Gravimetric Pulse Beam: The
gravimetric pulse beam works on the same principles of the mauler device
in its energy generation principles but the beam is focused through a
series of progressively more powerful graviton focusing arrays that result
in a beam that is roughly three feet in diameter and performs well against
a wide array of enemy shielding systems. Known to some as the 'slicer
beam' because of the Altaran tactic of literally slicing enemy warships
into pieces with the beam.
Primary Purpose: Anti-Warship
Secondary Purpose:
Assault
Damage: Effective
against most varieties of shielding systems (Estimated: 87 percent success ratio). Can
literally slice through enemy ships.
Range: 1 AU+
Rate of Fire: Can
generate a continuous slicing beam every second.
- TORPEDO LAUNCHERS (18): The Alpha-Hotel is equipped
with eighteen, all-purpose heavy torpedo launchers than can fire ALL NDI
Spacy and Draconian League anti-warship missiles and torpedoes, including
Phoenix Arms' XRM-4 Firestar strategic assault torpedo. Internal storage
bays can carry a maximum of 4,576 munitions for the launchers and each
launcher can be loaded once every six seconds.
- DISRUPTION SPHERE EMITTERS
(6): The
disruption sphere technology has been refined continually since it was
added to the Kirishima and Memphis cruiser classes after the
Chaos/Hive Wars in 2070. The weapon uses a transmission system similar to
that used on the quantum detonator, though much smaller and less powerful
by comparison. By releasing the energy potentials of a specific area of
space, it creates a destructive plasma-type globe that acts like the famed
Lightning Field in its destruction of enemy missiles, mecha, and other
enemy weapons systems.
- PHOENIX ARMS TRC-1000 PULSE
CANNONS (240): For last-ditch point defense, the battleship mounts over two
hundred high-powered, fast tracking pulse cannon turrets that fire phased
energy blasts at an extremely high rate of fire that are effective against
all manners of mecha, missile, and other assorted targets. These weapons,
however, are not effective against larger targets as they simply lack the
sufficient energy output to deal damage. Low-end estimates for the TRC-1000 pulse cannon's
destructive power has been calculated in the 700 gigawatt range. High-end estimates have been
placed in the 105-130 terawatt range.
SYSTEMS OF NOTE:
- ADVANCED DAMAGE CONTROL: As ships of war, the NDI
Spacy's warships are designed to maximize their offensive capability while
using their defenses to defeat enemy offensive power. However, damage is
inevitable, and the only way to prevent massive ship losses to consecutive
enemy attacks is to have adequate damage control systems. Unlike previous
versions of damage control, where men and women had to go to the site to
repair critical damage, Adv. Damage Control systems use automated
nanolathing units to patch up holes in the hull and repair vital systems
during the heat of battle.
- ARMOR: The Alpha-Hotel battleships
are heavily armored with highly-advanced Xintium-B heavy armor. The new
standard in armor materials, Xintium-B is a lighter weight version of
standard Xintium alloy, with more protection per square centimeter than
any other known armor material in existence. Xintium-B's molecular
structure possesses a unique nuclear force in its atoms that allows it to
regenerate even after tremendous damage. The armor is further augmented
with Zanarium stealth armor that has moderate protective value, but mainly
serves to generate a stealth field around the vessel that renders most
active forms of sensors useless against the vessel. The stealth field
generated by Zanarium also masks the vessel's presence to scalar wave and
quintessence differentialometer type sensors. The overall protective
strength of the armor can disperse all energy that strikes it, making the
only effective option anti-matter type weapons.
- DAMPER FIELD GENERATOR: A by-product of antigravity
(repulsor) technology, the damper field has been heralded as the best
defense against scalar electrogravitational pulse weaponry, which are
notorious for their ability to destroy ammunition, electronics, and
organic life forms. While scalar EM waves penetrate conventional shielding
because they can travel wherever gravity can go, the damper field uses a
low-power antigravity field that negates the force of gravity and
consequently provides an effective shielding system against scalar EM
weapons systems.
- DIRECT ELECTRONIC INTEGRATION OF MULTIPLEXING
OPERATING SYSTEMS (DEIMOS): The most advanced combat computer suite available to
Confederate military forces in the field, DEIMOS is a highly advanecd
computer system with near-infinite processing power operating on
yoctotronic computer technology. All communications and electronic sensor
systems are under the direct control of DEIMOS.
The
processing and information load capacity of the DEIMOS system is near infinite,
using a combination of high-powered electronic components coupled with psychoactive
crystal arrays that allow for incredibly high volumes of data to be processed
simultaneously on practically limitless separate and complex tasks (an upper
limit has not been theorized). DEIMOS, like its predecessors Oracle and
GoldenGate, is completely self-aware within the parameters of its core
operation principles. DEIMOS exists solely for the purpose of defending the
Nerimian Confederation and all of its citizens and will perform whatever
operations are necessary for that task. Because DEIMOS' loyalty rests
completely with the Confederation and the NDI, it will never turn against them
under any circumstances.
Onboard
the ship, DEIMOS manifests itself as an artificially-created female humanoid
with distinctive features and personality traits. Holding the rank of Lieutenant Commander, DEIMOS is second
only to the ship's commander and his executive officer. DEIMOS oversees all
operations of its parent vessel and can instantly access the operational
systems of every ship subordinated to it. In this way, the DEIMOS can
coordinate the operations of entire squadrons, battle groups, task forces, and
even fleets seamlessly and without delay. All information from subordinate
ships immediately moves through the Tactical Information Web where to DEIMOS,
who translates all data into a form the ship's commander can understand.
- HARD SHIELDS: Hard Shields are reinforced against the
ravages of many forms of incidental radiation. Hard shields are distortion
shields that warp and bend enemy attacks away from the vessel. The
distortion field also prevents teleportation across the barrier it
creates, so when the shield is in operation, transphased and other similar
weapons are rendered inert. The hard shields when coupled with the zyro
shields are often layered together in an array that dissipates and
distorts enemy beam weapon attacks to the point that only minute levels
radiation will ever reach the outermost layer of armor.
- HIGH ENERGY FOCUS: The High Energy Focus is an
engine modification that maximizes the amount of energy that can be
unleashed through the warship's beam weapons. This doubles the effective
range of all beam weapons, and doubles the damage they can do at their
normal range due to the higher influx of energy.
- HYPERPULSE DRIVE: Genesis Propulsion
Systems/Argus Millitech Kalmedia Type A Hyperpulse Drive is a relatively new addition
to the Draconian Alliance's warships. Using layered asymmetrical warp
fields that can envelop the entire vessel, the ship can move at superluminal
velocities during combat. While nowhere near as fast as the interphased
drives that allows ships to move from planet to planet, it allows for extremely rapid travel during
combat.
- HYPERSPACE COMMUNICATIONS: Based on the same technology
as the space fold system, the hyperspace communications relay allows
faster-than-light communication between NDI Spacy starships and other
vessels or planetary bases. Hyperspace communications are still not
instantaneous, however. Audio/video communication travels through
hyperspace at roughly 150 million times c. As with all NDI communications,
the hyperspace communications array utilizes a proprietary set of signals
that changes periodically, allowing secure communications between NDI
warships without the fear of enemy interception.
- INTERDICTION FIELD: The battleship is capable of
projecting a powerful artificial gravitic field that disrupts the
operations of FTL drives of all types in a specific area of effect
(minimal effective AOE is a 1,000 meter cubic area; maximum AOE is 1 AU
cubic area). This is useful in preventing enemy vessels from escaping from
battle. The interdiction field also has a secondary mode that can defeat
the interdiction efforts of enemy forces in a localized area roughly half
the size of its normal operation.
- LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS: The battleships are designed
to be self sufficient in that it can produce and maintain all materials
necessary to sustain the lives of up to 30,000 people at one time.
- LIGHTNING SHIELD: The Lightning Shield is a
powerful ionized energy field that is useful against any penetrating
target. The intense plasma heating will fuse and even vaporize metallic
bodies. In addition, any missile encountering the shell is subjected to an
extremely intense EMP arising everywhere inside its circuitry. EM
shielding is of no use against the creation of energy throughout the space
time of the circuits; such shielding only helps against energy flow
through space in the conventional sense. Thus, the electronics of any
mecha or missile encountering the shield are instantly dudded, whether or
not they are shielded against ordinary electromagnetic interference (EMI).
Furthermore, explosive materials are exploded when such interference is
encountered, and combustible materials are fiercely consumed or set afire.
Ablative shielding suffers an interesting catastrophe: since energy does
not try to flow into the shielding, but instead arises everywhere in it
simultaneously, 'ablation' occurs everywhere throughout the ablative
material, simply exploding it instantly. The first layer of defense can be
relied upon to take out nearly 100% of all enemy missiles that have not
been modified in someway to 'penetrate the envelope' (energy sheathing,
phase-shifting methods seem to be most effective).
- NEUTRON STREAM PROJECTORS: Neutron Stream Projectors are
a wide area effect weapons that fire a highly volatile blast of neutrinos
that have a catastrophic effect on armor of all types. Stream projectors
can easily bypass deflector shields and apply their damage directly to
armor. Field tests have shown that against lower grades of armor, the
armor will shatter completely. The higher grade of armor, the less overall
damage is done and subsequent stream projector attacks are warranted.
- RADIATION SHIELDS: The Alpha-Hotel battleships
are equipped with a Mercurite shielding system, which is capable of
blocking most forms of electromagnetic radiation. This is useful for
blocking electromagnetic pulse-type weapons.
- SHIELD CAPACITOR: The Alpha-Hotel's
fast-charging shield capacitor allows the Zyro Shields to fully recharge
to full power every 12 seconds instead of the standard 90 seconds.
- WORMHOLE GENERATIOR: The Alpha-Hotel is equipped
with a hyper-advanced wormhole generation system that taps into the
awesome psionic prowess of the Vaishan and the tremendous navigational
computer of the ship to generate as many as 150 separate wormholes
simultaneously that can instantly transport even large battleships like
the Orion to distant
locations instantly. This system has many tactical and strategic
applications, as the Alpha-Hotel can instantly deploy itself to any
location that it so desires or bring friendly vessels to its location from
vast distances.
- SUBLIGHT ENGINES: The ship is equipped with
multiple gravimetric drives that manipulate superstrings and the
zero-point field to maneuver and accelerate to a far higher degree than
other ships. By manipulating and "bending" superstrings,
Draconian Alliance ships are able to create distortions in space/time that
can be used to push and pull a ship in any given direction. An important
byproduct of this means of propulsion is that the effect of inertia is
also negated, allowing ships to accelerate, stop and maneuver at
velocities that would crush a person using conventional ion propulsion.
- TIME/SPACE ANCHOR: In accordance with Vaishan
technology, the battleship utilizes a Time/Space anchor, a psychoactive
crystal that firmly anchors the battleship in the space-time continuum,
warding off attacks that move through time or try to rip the vessel from
existence. The Time/Space Anchor activates when the ship is brought under
attack from applicable weapons, rendering the attack ineffective. This
also prevents enemy forces from teleporting onto the vessel.
- ZYRO SHIELDS: The Zyro Shield is a
energy/ray shielding system that generates incredible amounts of energy to
generate a force field system that can absorb the tremendous impacts from
enemy beam weapons. To better defend against enemy attacks, the shields
can be fluxed in such a way that they can regulate what wavelengths of electromagnetic
radiation reach the hull. In combat, this allows the shields to modulate
their own wavelengths to render certain wavelengths of enemy beam weapons
utterly useless.
