BACKGROUND
The MMX-81C "Ocelot" Series Ground
Assault Mobile Frame is the Nerimian Defense Initiative's response to
the modern-day battlefield. The Ocelot is a powerhouse in its own right, but
it works best when supported by powered armor infantry and supporting vehicles.
The Ocelot is capable of low-altitude flight using its powerful plasma impulse
engines, which gives it a great deal of versatility on the battlefield.
The Ocelot's ability to withstand damage is only
parallel by its larger counterpart, the Shatterstar. The neutronium is interleaved
with layers of mercurite, which prevents the passage of volatile electromagnetic
radiation and high-energy radiation (gamma rays) that could harm the electronic
systems or the pilot. The outer layer of armor is the advanced Xintium alloy,
which in addition to having incredible resistance to heat (90,000 degrees Celcius),
concussive force (2,000,000 pounds per square inch), and directed-energy weaponry,
has an abnormal nuclear force in the molecules that repairs damaged molecular
bonds over time, meaning the armor is incredibly resilient to damage. In field
tests, the survivability of the unit through the most dire of combat situations
has made it one of the most reliable combat units available.
Weaponry, as always, is the true striking power
of any combat unit. The Ocelot wields two progressive blades forged from the
super-strong and dense metallic alloy of xentrotium, which is further strengthened
by using Dikoting technologies (adding a thin layer of diamond over the metal).
These blades can shear through the toughest alloys known with a single swipe,
the vibrating motion of the blades capable of turning grazes into severe lacerations.
Meanwhile, twin 40mm pulse particle cannons that are known to take out every
existing advanced armor vehicle and heavily armored sea combat vessel in a matter
of seconds. A chest-mounted 105 mm disruptor cannon unleashes phased energy
bolts that literally shatter the molecular bonds of a target once it strikes,
which makes it the ideal anti-mecha weapon. External weapons systems include
the large NXT-04 Plasma Cannon which packs capital ship firepower in a mobile
frame class package. Two guided mortar launchers are mounted on the back of
the mecha, which launch long-range guided mortars at extreme ranges that can
home in on enemy radar or infrared signatures. Warheads range from conventional
high-explosive fragmentation, armor-piercing, or 5 KT tactical nuclear warheads.
Propulsion systems on the Ocelot consist of Argus
Millitech's revolutionary KX Series plasma-impulse engines, which draw in air
from the surrounding environment and convert it to plasma, which in turn powers
the enormous engines of the assault mecha. For maneuverability in aerial combat,
several vernier thrusters coupled with inertial nullification systems allow
the Ocelot to move with unprecedented agility for a combat unit its size.
Ultimately, the Ocelot is pound-for-pound the
most versatile combat unit in its class, capable of leading the charge in assaults
against enemy installations and supporting other ATAC units in the field.

WEAPON SYSTEMS:
- ARC-20 40MM PULSE CANNONS (2):
High-intensity energy pulse cannon mounted on either side of the head unit
of the powered armor. Fires in rapid pulses of 10 megajoules each. Each pulse
is actually a dense packet of highly-charged particle energy ('annihilation
discs'). Upon impact with a target, the energy is unleashed fully upon a single
part of the target's armor structure, totally breaking down the molecular
bonds of the armor upon the impact point and severely weakening bonds across
the surface of the target. Multiple hits will blast through some of the most
resilient armors with little or no effort.
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: Anti-mecha
- SECONDARY PURPOSE: Defensive
- RANGE: 8 km
- RATE OF FIRE: 2000 pulses per minute
(33.3 pulses/second)
- PAYLOAD: Effectively Unlimited. Will
function as long as the main reactor is operational.
- PROGRESSIVE BLADES (2): The
Ocelot's primary close-range weapons are a set of forearm-mounted progressive
vibrational blades that can be extended outwards to deal extreme damage against
enemy units. Each blade is treated with Dikote, a process that deposits
a thin diamond film on any solid surface. Small volumes of methane gas are
mixed with hydrogen gas and subjected to powerful microwave beams. The end
result is a blade that in addition to the natural integrity of the metal used,
adds increased structural strength to the weapon.
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: Melee Attack
- SECONDARY PURPOSE: Defense
- PHOENIX ARMS NXT-04 PLASMA RIFLE: For
a main external weapon, the Ocelot wields Phoenix Arms' NXT-04 Plasma Rifle,
which is the equivalent of a starship class medium plasma cannon. The rifle
carries enough plasma in the clip to fire 60 shots before needing to be recharged.
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault
- SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-mecha
- RANGE: 20 miles
- RATE OF FIRE: One shot every five
seconds
- PAYLOAD: 60 shots
- GUIDED MORTAR LAUNCHERS (2): Two heavy
guided mortars are mounted on the back of the mecha that can launch the 355mm
"Armadillo" guided mortar at extreme range. Each mortar is guided
via radar, infrared, or even laser targeting (from a spotter on the ground).
The Acolyte mortar can carry a variety of warheads, including high-explosive
fragmentation, high-explosive antitank (HEAT), plasma warheads, tactical nuclear
warheads, and special "Flashlight" Vircator warheads.
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault
- MORTAR TYPE: 355mm "Acolyte"
Heavy Mortar
- SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-Mecha
- RANGE: 50 miles
- RATE OF FIRE: Volley's of two or
more
- PAYLOAD: 16 mortars per launcher,
32 in all
- ARGUS MILITECH F-2C SERIES 105mm DISRUPTOR
CANNON (1): The F-2C Disruptor Cannon is an advanced phasor weapon that
not only phases the energy so it can pass through force-fields uninhibited,
but when the weapon strikes its target, it disrupts the molecular cohesion
of the target, totally shattering molecular bonds and causing the weakening
of molecular bonds all across the structure of the target. Against soft targets,
the disruptor turns targets into simple ash with the energy dispersion of
the weapon.
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault
- SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-mecha
- RANGE: 6 miles
- RATE OF FIRE: 1 shot every 3 seconds.
- PAYLOAD: Effectively unlimited.
STANDARD EQUIPMENT FOR THE MMX-81C:
- XINTIUM/NEUTRONIUM MULTI-LAYERED ARMOR:
The Ocelot's armor consists of two layers of armor.
The first and undermost layer is composed of enriched neutrontium inter-weaved
with mercurite fibers, which due to their natural properties block harmful
electromagnetic radiation that can destroy electronic components and/or biological
lifeforms. In-between the first layer and the outer layer are honeycombed
neutrontium plates that are melded to the undermost layer of armor, which
can cushion the concussive impact of blows on the mecha. The outermost layer
is composed of Xintium alloy, the revolutionary metallic alloy that possesses
an abnormal force in its molecules that regenerates molecular bonds overtime,
which in turn makes the armor super resilient.
- BARRIER SHIELD GENERATOR: The Barrier
Shield Generator of the Ocelot generates a high-yield electromagnetic barrier
shield that can deflect most types of weapons, protecting the powered armor
from harm. The shield regenerates its power when not in use. The shield is
always present but is not visible until a force is exerted upon it.
- RADAR: Oracle CPY-7 multi-band interleaved-multi-mode
radar system, providing spherical very-long-range detection and tracking of
targets at all altitudes in addition to medium range imaging and target identification.
This system includes passive modes for "stealthy" detection of targets.
Oracle SLQ-310 multi-band interleaved multi-spectrum passive sensor system,
providing spherical and extremely sensitive detection, identification, comparison
and data storage of EM radiation at all altitudes.
- RADAR/INFRARED WARNING RECEIVERS:
Multi-channel radar and infrared warning receivers.
Gives warning against IR or Radar locks.
- ACTIVE RADAR JAMMER: Oracle
SLQ-248 multi-wave radar jammer. Capable of jamming enemy radar; this includes
radar from ships, other fighters, remote radar stations, and of course, aspect
homing radars from enemy missiles.
- ENERGY-RESISTANT MERCURITE COATING: Using
the highly resistant material known as mercurite, this coating scrambles laser
tracking and effectively HALVES all energy weapon damage. Some weaker weapons
will even bounce off the mercurite coating.
- RADIO COMMUNICATIONS: Wide-band and
directional radio and video telecast capabilities. Range is 750 miles or can
be boosted indefinately via satellite relay. The communications systems of
NDI variable fighters are proprietary; that is that only other friendly systems
can decipher the radio's encoded transmissions.
- LASER COMMUNICATIONS: Long-range, directional
communications system. Effective range: 100,000 miles. The communications
systems of NDI variable fighters are proprietary; that is that only other
friendly systems can decipher the radio's encoded transmissions.
- LASER TARGETING SYSTEM: Thomson LT-5
multi-frequency laser ranger and designator. Range: 100 miles (160 km). Used
for increased accuracy in the striking of enemy targets and is partly responsible
for the drone's increased accuracy.
- OPTICS: INFRARED: Range: 2000 feet (610
m). This optical system projects a beam of infrared light that is invisible
to the normal eye, but detectable by the Ocelot's sensors. The system allows
the drone to detect hidden/concealed objects by their IR reflectiveness. The
beam will be visible to anyone with IR sensitive optics, however.
- OPTICS: NIGHTVISION: Range: 2000 feet
(610 m). A passive light image intensifier that emits no light of its own,
but relies on ambient light which is electronically amplified to produce a
visible picture.
- OPTICS: THERMAL IMAGER: Range: 2000
feet (610 m). A passive optical heat sensor that detects infrared radiation
projected by warm objects and converts that data into a false-color visible
image. The system enables the drone to see in the dark, in shadows, and through
smoke.
- SMOKE SCREEN SYSTEM: The Ocelot can
emit a thick cloud of smoke from its rear to create immediate cover. The smoke
screen system can discharge a maximum of four bursts before needing to replace
smoke canister. Each burst will cover a 60 ft area.
- ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION SHIELDS: Being
a mechanized weapon, most enemies will resort to using EMP weapons to render
the weapon useless. However, the electronic systems of the fighter have been
shielded from electromagnetic pulse weapons using internal layers of mercurite
to prevent harmful radiation from harming vital equipment.
- SELF-DESTRUCT: To prevent capture of
the drone by the enemy, the mecha is equipped with a self-destruct system.
Inside the mecha rests a 200 KT fusion bomb that is only activated during
the self-destruct sequence. Not only is the mecha completely obliterated,
but it can cause significant damage to everything around it when it detonates.
- NI-02 INERTIAL NULLIFICATION SYSTEM: The
interial nullifier generates a powerful field that negates the Newtonian force
of inertia upon the mobile suit, which allows the mecha to perform moves that
would otherwise be impossible.
